One of the Agency’s tasks is to compile statistical data on the consumption of medicinal products in Iceland. The data is collected from wholesalers and then entered into a database.

The units for medicinal products is displayed in defined daily doses per 1000 inhabitants (DDD/inhabitant/day) and ATC categories, according to WHO-definition.
